Biography
A native of San Antonio, TX, Chente Barrera began his music career during the early '90s as a tejano session staple, lending backing vocals and drums to recordings from artists including Juan Manuel, Laura Canales, Gary Hobbs, and Shelly Lares. After touring with Jay Perez and composing material for Bobby Pulido, Barrera made his solo debut in 1998 with the album Puro Taconazo. Barrera released three more albums over the next eight years. He received several Tejano Music Awards in 2005 for Pedazo de Mi Corazón and snagged a 2007 Latin Grammy nomination for Best Tejano Album for Sigue el Taconazo.
